Welcome to the Hompage Museum. On this page you can step back in time and visit some of our old homepages as they looked back then. The pages are completely unmodified from the original, so of course most of the links and email adresses will no longer work.

25 November 1995

This is the oldest homepage I have been able to find the source for. The first PC we bought in June 1994 came with AOL software and for a few years that served as our connection to the internet. In the beginning there was no way to access the world wide web from AOL, but in 1995 that was finally possible, and along with that it became possible to have personal homepages on AOL. Sometime in the fall of 1995 I created my very first homepage. The URL was http://users.aol.com/Dalsten/web/per.html. Step way back in time to 25 November 1995 and see what it looked like. And no, I have absolutely no recollection of why I picked those links...

In the spring of 1996 we finally moved to a real internet provider. The URL was now http://www.cris.com/~Dalsten. The page has very little content, and the picture of me is an old black and white picture from 1990. Step back to 20 April 1996.

This homepage is also from 1996. It is still pretty low on content, but it does have the Baby Name Survey. We were tying to get inspiration for a name for our first child. We got quite a few votes and suggestions, but as you know ended up with something not on the list. Step back to 27 August 1996.

This is the earliest Monica homepage I can find. It may well have been the first, although I am not sure. I also do not remember why it is in Danish only, and if there also was an English version. Anyway, it just contains the basic facts: name, birthplace, etc. Plus of course a few photos. Step back to 27 January 1997.

By early 1998 Monica's homepage had developed a bit. It now had quite a few pictures on the pages in the Monica Gallery. The pictures were all digital versions of "old fashioned" photographs, but since a whole roll of film had to fit on one floppy disk the the quality was not all that good. In addition to the pictures there was the Monica Ticker announcing big and small events in Monica's life. Step back to 25 January 1998 to see for yourself.

For a while this site kindly provided space for Bent and Jan (see below) so they could have their own homepages. Bent chose to write his page in Danish, and presented a nice yellow page with some pictures of himself. Step back to 25 January 1998 to see Bent's homepage.

Of course Tina got her own homepage within days of being born. By folowing the below link you can see what it looked like when she was about 3 months old. Step back to 16 June 1999 to see Tina's homepage.

Like Bent, Jan had his own homepage on cris.com for a while. Naturally, it was kept in his trademark orange design, and like Bent he chose to write it in Danish. However, even if you don't read Danish the pictures makes your visit worthwhile. Step back to 20 December 1999 to see Jan's homepage.

After moving to Denmark in April 2000, it took a while to get the homepage back up and running. The container with all our stuff including computer equipment arrived in early May, and then we needed to find and ISP, get a modem, etc. The first homepage on Home15 is from May, 28th, but the version here is from early June and featured an important newsflash. Step back to 9 June 2000 to see what happened that day.

During the spring and summer 2000 Monica took up an interest in what was going on in the yard. She looked after the flowers, and observed the animals (insects mostly). This interest was reflected on her homepage. On August 1st Monica shared her very first Tidbit with the world. Step back to 1 August 2000 to see what it was.

In the fall of 2000 Tina's vocabulary was rapidly expanding, and for a while we tried to maintain a list on her homepage of all the words she knew. As you can see she knows a mix of English and Danish, and she also knows several animal sounds. Like Monica had her Tuesday Tidbits, Tina had her Wednesday Wonders, and on this day she revealed what her most used word was. Step back to 9 November 2000 to find out what it was.

Just before Christmas 2000 I got my first digital camera. Instead of having to wait for the old fashioned film to be developed and ordering images on a cdrom, digital images were now readily available. This meant that many more images showed up on the homepages. The first page with photos from the new camera was published on 30 December, 2000, and it contained pictures from that Christmas. Step back to 30 December 2000 to see how some very young girls (and the rest of us) spent Christmas 2000.

For the last many years our summer travels have been documented on this site. However, it wasn't until 2001 that summer vacation pictures got their own feature page. That year we stayed in a hostel in Aalborg, but we also stopped by Legoland and Holstebro. Step back to 1 July 2001 to see what we experienced on our trip to Aalborg.

Within 24 hours of being born Adam had his own homepage and email address – a new record. The first page had just a single photo and the basic facts, but over the next few days pictures from the hospital and his first days at home were added. Step back to 14 October 2001 to see Adam's first (almost) homepage.

In September 2002 the site got a new look and feel. For the first time real cascading stylesheets were used to control the apperance of the html pages. This did not necessarily mean that pages got any more visually appealing, of course... In addition to the stylesheets a feature was previously added to allow a more dynamic way of displaying on the main page when sub-pages were last changed. In this case all modification dates were changed due to the introduction of stylesheets even though the contents did not change. Step back to 22 September 2002 to see the new green and sand colored design with dynamic dates.
